Both teams are on a recent winning streak and the match between them will be a remarkable game to witness.  The PBA Governors’ Cup will have the Magnolia Hotshots and the Elasto Painters battling it out.

The recent run-in of lost matches was seen as simply not a perfect fit with the team’s gameplay and its current talented import. The past saw a four-game losing streak as they went through their early matches. It did look bleak for a time but this did not deter the team from striving to get out of the sheer lack of luck in their matches.

Since then, the Elasto Painters have clocked in two victories recently albeit those were against teams who didn’t rank high in the PBA Governors’ Cup tourney. Coach Yeng Guiao is absolutely positive that the team will be able to push through and restore faith in itself as they enter this critical point of time where a last playoff push must materialize.

“This is good for us. The team is developing mentally and coping in adverse situations,” Guiao said shortly after his charges took Terrafirma down last Thursday, 120-118, even without import Greg Smith II.

“We [also] feel good about our locals—running our system especially in putting up effort on defense.”

Deeming that the past struggles of the Elasto Painters have made the team stronger and tougher to face oncoming matches the next game will be running into a heavyweight, the Magnolia Hotshots. The Wednesday match will be held at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Currently, Greg Smith II has received clearance and will be back and ready to play by this date. The American forward will be able to pick up where he left off with 38 points as his debut gunning a win at 122-117 over the befuddled Blackwater team.

The Magnolia Hotshots were also coming from similar dire straits as the Elasto Painters having had three straight losses in its first three matches. Since then, the Hotshots have won consecutive games and targeted a three-game winning streak in the coming game. They have been undefeated since Antonio Hester joined in.

Coach Chito Victolero of the Hotshots sees this as a running sixth that can be a path toward a two-two finish.  He digressed, “It’s going to be a physical game. We need to grind on both ends of the floor.”

This is indeed going to be a match to watch out for. There are high stakes for each team and both have a strong need to win.
