There were two Chinese men who allegedly robbed a casino dealer in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig on the 14th of January 2023. The suspects first robbed the victim of her personal belongings and then demanded she purchases these back at later date. This was the chance wherein police were able to set things up for their immediate arrest.

Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

The two suspects namely Fei He, 40, and Haikang Lyu, 32, robbed the victim at gunpoint while she was at a mall’s parking lot at around 5 a.m. on Thursday, the 12th of January 2023. The suspects were able to take her cell phone, bank cards, vaccination card, passport and other items.

The victim works for a casino as a casino dealer and was then contacted by the suspects demanding money so that she can have her stolen items back. Upon getting this proposal from the suspects, the victim, a woman, 32 years of age, then approached the police to file a complaint about what was happening. The police then conducted an entrapment operation that would conveniently have the suspects in plain sight.

The set-up was made and the Taguig police were ready to apprehend the operatives as they discreetly gathered in front of a mall in Barangay Fort Bonifacio at around 5 a.m. The Southern Police District (SPD) had the ready amount in cash, PHP 20,000. The victim then met up with the two Chinese suspects to hand over the marked money.

As soon as the suspects got the marked money, the police were able to swoop in and arrested them. They were also caught in possession of 1.1 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P 22,480.

Charges of robbery extortion and possession of illegal drugs are being prepared against the suspects.

Didn’t expect that this kind of robbery will be happening at BGC. It is known as one of the safest areas in the Metro Manila area. Unfortunately, when criminal elements want to pursue their dastardly goals, they will always find a way to do so. It is good news to see though that the SPD was able to jump into action when the victim filed her complaint.

Stay safe everyone! It’s quite odd that the crime also took place at the start of the morning, 5 a.m. How do you keep safe from such crimes? Let us know in the comment section below.
