Stunning the crowd and the global fans of the Super Bowl, Rihanna’s performance was even made more special when she was prominently showing a baby bump on the elevated stage. After seven long years of being away from any live performance, the singer is indeed a showstopper.
A representative for the singer confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she is expecting another child following her explosive performance Sunday.
The State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona was an amazing sight with perfectly timed fireworks to complement the Halftime show. Truly, for 13 or so minutes, the crowd’s attention was drawn away from the Philadelphia Eagles versus Kansas City Chiefs match.
Highlights of the Halftime Show
The big reveal of her pregnancy almost outshone her performance. The creative team behind the visuals and choreography orchestrated a stunning show but still had great care when it came to Rihanna’s safety.
Elevated platforms seemed to be magically suspended which overcame the immense challenge of the usage of space in the stadium. Super Bowl halftime show producer Jesse Collins shared that they were focused on making Rihanna’s performance safe, secure and smoothly go without any trouble.
“She’s scared of heights but she got it together for this and I have to give the credit to her creative director, Willo Perron,” Collins shared. “He came up with that idea along with our choreographer Parris (Goebel) and it was just unbelievable.”
Collins explained that the floating stages came into play because there were concerns about how much weight could be put on the State Farm Stadium field. Collins described the field as a “sponge” that would have made bearing the weight of the stages and dancers impossible.
“We were like, ‘You can only do this much on the field,’ and they were like, ‘Well, we’ll just put it all in the air,'” Collins recalled.
Rihanna performed well-known hits like “We Found Love,” “Where Have You Been,” “Diamonds” and “Work.” while giving laid-back but very well-executed dance moves. She was rock solid in showing her talent as well as sneaked in a nod to her Fenty Beauty company, taking a dab off of a compact midway in the performance.

Halftime Show Harbinger of New Music from Rihanna?
Seeing that Rihanna was able to carry out the performance stunningly all on her own — no other guests were performing — even the colour theme was black and white with only her presence in red. Fans have been clamouring since 2016 for a new album from the artist. There were no costume changes and her work is highlighted throughout the show.
Was this a narrative pointing to a new album? She shared her insights on this.
“I was like, ‘You sure? I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,’” Rihanna said.
“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything,” she added. “And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was…there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all,” she said. “It’s important for my son to see that.”
She also said fitting her 18-year catalogue into a 13-minute set was tough.
“The setlist was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest part — deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate. That’s what the show’s going to be — it’s going to be a celebration of my catalogue in the best way,” she said. “I think we did a pretty good job at narrowing it down.”
It looks like that fans should be satisfied with the Halftime Show for the moment. We’ve all thirsted for a new album for almost a decade now from Rihanna.
